This weekend and again in two weeks, I will be lecturing as part of the continuing education program in applied ethics offered by the Zurich University Centre for Ethics. The program attracts a broad range of professionals who can either earn a Certificate, a Diploma, or a Master of Advanced Studies in Applied Ethics. Tanja Krones is organizing the current course on clinical ethics and is also giving the bulk of the lectures. I will contribute a lecture on the distinction between research and therapy and the concept of “clinical equipoise”; risk-benefit evaluations in biomedical research; and definitions of death and the ethics of transplantation medicine. Zentrum für Weiterbildung der Universität Zürich, November 5 and 19, 2011.
